Goose (1:00pm)
Melodic and soulful and plying a rootsy rocking path to salvation, Goose is the lovechild of much beloved 90’s era bands Throneberry, Love Cowboys and the Liquid Hippos. Principals Jason Arbenz, his brother Jordan, pianist/drummer Paul Cavins and journeyman bassist Lance Stapleton play rock music with hearts placed gently on sleeve. Referencing the collegiality and inspiration of The Band and the wordsmithery of Elvis Costello, the group’s influence is as much classic rock as clever modern pop. http://www.myspace.com/cincigoose
The Newbees (3:00pm) formed in May 2004 when husband and wife team Jeff & Misty Perholtz tired of playing as an acoustic duo sought out like minded pop accomplices. Since then, the five piece band has been playing regularly at numerous venues and festivals including The Motor City Music Conference in Detroit , The Midwest Entertainment Industry Conference, Taste of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati ’s own Midpoint Music Festival. They have made appearances on radio stations throughout the country including local favorites WNKU 89.7, WAIF 88.3 and the Mojo 94.9, and their catchy jingle for Gold Star Chili made them overnight You Tube stars. The Newbees released their debut CD "Songs from a Dilapidated Apartment" in October 2004 and their second album, "Famous", in January of 2007. Their latest album, "Amsterdam," is now available. http://www.thenewbees.com/
The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars (4:00pm) were assembled in 1996 as the Sunday night house band at The Comet. Since that time the popularity of the band has grown beyond the lounge at The Comet, playing shows such as Taste of Cincinnati, Jammin' on Main and billed with national acts. The famed Sunday night sessions at The Comet are informal and known to draw a diverse, "listening" audience who love the group’s traditional approach to bluegrass utilizing banjo, dobro, fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, and guitar. The group is a former Cincinnati Area Music Award winner (2000, 2001, and 2002) for Best Bluegrass Band as well as Cincinnati Entertainment Award (Citybeat) for 2001 and 2002. http://www.cometbluegrass.com/
